District 2 board member Paul Larson, who chairs the finance committee, said Courier had provided an indication of where the money would come from this year. “If we’re going to go out on a limb, her limb is shorter and sturdier than others we’ve been out on,” he said.

Schultz’s motion to return the matter to the finance committee failed, 9-3. Then the motion to hire the additional assistant state’s attorney, effective April 1, passed, 9-3.

Two of Pysson’s contentions didn’t receive a response. They were:

1. One member of the planning commission with several decades of experience in planning withdrew his application and resigned because of the chairman’s inaction on his request for reappointment.

2. It is standard business practice for an applicant for any post to submit a letter of introduction or a resume. One of the proposed appointees “has submitted only a one sentence request to be appointed to the position,” Pysson stated.

He said he wasn’t criticizing the applicant but rather the board chairman “who apparently did not give a suitable request for written information or who accepted such a short letter.”
